Buy A Domain Name- It’s Easy

Posted by admin on March 14th, 2009

The easiest thing to do is to buy a domain name and the reason why I say this is because you do not have to go over your text wondering whether your idea was good enough.

People buy domains because they have noticed a name that their business or organization would be enhanced by. You can easily buy a domain name online and all you have to do is to search for the sites which have domain name resellers and choose your pick. You might want to buy a domain and you have not yet picked any specific name and by viewing the hundreds of options available, you will get to know which name sounds like your business. Before you buy any domain name, you need to consider some important details and they include the following.

You need to consider the following about your company your name, the products and services you intend to sell, the type of marketing you wish to engage in and the kind of traffic you want to attract. These details, will help you know exactly how to strategize and plan your business. A client or customer should be able to tell that kind of business you do by viewing your domain and it should also be short and clear. A customer should therefore be able to comfortably remember your domain if they want to refer to the site. Achieving this may need you to have somebody who can critic your options until you arrive at a suitable name. You might be overwhelmed by the numerous options but the idea is to take time and think about it.

where to register domain names
There are domains that are very valuable and others that are not so popular. The most valuable domains are of names that are known to sell and, one such example of a domain that earned up to 3 million dollars is vodka.com. Pizza.com also sold over a million dollars in a week long online auction. You will find very cheap domain names when you buy a domain name. Sometimes, people who buy domain names are accused of not being creative enough and this might have some truth in it but, it will be unfair to label everyone. Buying a name saves you stress and heartache and it is a form of appreciating what others come up with. Therefore, providing revenue for the people who are in business and promoting the industry.

The internet is full of resources that will enable you to make the right decision and you can compare the pricing. If you are on a budget, then go for one that is affordable. Once you are pleased with what you find, make sure that all the qualities that will suit your business are present and you are now ready to register it. Register with a plan that will suit your business. This could mean that you need a private domain registration, if indeed you need your private and personal information to be protected. Buy a domain name and save yourself some heartache.

How To Choose A Good Domain Name

Posted by admin on February 4th, 2009

Getting The Right Domain Name

Once you are comfortable with working online, you should buy a domain name for your site or sites. Domain name registration, if you do it right, is one of the key components of having your site rate high in the search engines. The right domain name is memorable, and can get your site to rank higher than other names. The wrong domain name won’t do you any good at all.
three popular domain name extensions
The Basics of Domain Name Registration

The first thing you have to do is come up with a name . Don’t even think about a one-word domain name; they’re all gone at this point. Instead, come up with dual-word combos. If you’re putting together a professional site, try your name before anything else.

Don’t get fancy with spelling when selecting your domain name registration, or use 2s and 8s to represent their sounds. You can try the number 1; that sometimes works. You can also try the names of products you offer, or a description of your site content offerings: Romanceforgirls, popcornpalace, fluffykittens. Memorable is always better; short and memorable is best, but very difficult to accomplish.

Come up with a couple of dozen names that will do for your site, and test them on a registry. Don’t buy a domain name for which the .com extension is gone, but you have access to the .net or .info. These domain names are not by any means as valuable as the .com. If you pick up the .com, though, and you expect the site to be lucrative or have a lot of competition, it’s not a bad idea to pick up the other extensions as well. Domain name registration is NOT expensive, and if you register in bulk you can get an even better price.

The .UK Extension

This doesn’t mean you should avoid anything but .com. If you have a business in the United Kingdom, you have access to the .uk domain name set, which UK customers are likely to look at before anything else for UK-specific businesses.

If you anticipate most of your business will come from British customers who are aware your business is in Britain, the .uk extension may be a better choice than the .com; and if your customers are unhappy with Internic’s control of Internet domain registration or they are very pro-Britain, the .uk extension is certainly a better choice.

If you’re fortunate enough to find both extensions for your domain open, and if you run a British company, it doesn’t cost much to buy them both, and you definitely should.

It also gives your online presence an immediate ‘identity’ geographically which can be crucial in building online relationships- where trust is a key component. By being a .UK domain, you are very likely to gain UK clients.

The .UK domains market is one of the fastest growing and lucrative registration areas on the internet.

Tips for Domain Name Registration

Have a website ready to plunk into your domain as soon as you buy it, and submit it immediately to the search engines. The search engines take time to index new sites and your domain name registration is only as valuable as the search engines make it.

You can also have more than one domain name pointing at a single site. If you’ve bought multiple extensions for your domain name (as in the previously-suggested .com/.uk combination), you can set up your site under one domain name and then direct traffic from the others to the main site. This is called web traffic forwarding and has been around for years. It may be as simple as parking your domain name on a server and putting a line of code on the page, or as complex as going through another website to use their online web forwarding services.

When you do register a domain and start building traffic to it, go out and renew for multiple years before your renewal is due. It is surprisingly easy to forget to register your domain name on time, and if someone else sneaks in and registers it, you’ve just lost a ton of work on that domain.

By making your domain name memorable, you will help other webmasters remember your site easily when building anchor texts in their links- a crucial component of SEO.

Final tip: don’t just think about price when looking for a domain registration company- also think about quality of service. While you shouldn’t be paying over the odds, it really is better to be safe than sorry and go with the more established registrars. Then you can have peace of mind that should any problems arise, you will be well looked after.

How to Register A Domain Name

What You Should Know Before Registering A Domain Name

The domain name or website name is the first element of a website people come in to contact with when visiting your website. When your site shows up on SERP’s (Search Engine Result Pages) or as a link on another site, the domain name provides people some level of information as to what your site is about, or at least it should.

When you advertise your website VIA news print, brochures, sales copy or other printed material your domain name is a prominent component of the material and should be descriptive of your subject.
available domain name extensions
If your domain name is irrelevant or misleading, you will quickly alienate your visitors. Another way to sour a potential visitor is to have a long or difficult to remember domain name. A successful domain name will be easy to spell, easy to remember, relevant, short as possible and if possible one of your main SEO keywords or key phrases.

Choose a Good Domain Name

Before you develop a website it’s imperative that you find a domain name or website name that’s appropriate for your business. Sometimes this is done with relative ease, and other times it can be quite difficult. You see the internet now contains billions of websites and each one of those websites have a domain name. Chances are that perfect website name you’ve been dreaming of is already taken.

If you find that the name you would like to have for your site is already taken don’t get too discouraged. Fortunately there are other possible names that are just as good. Make a list of relevant words that are either descriptive of your business name or product/service. Play around with combinations of these words. For example webhostinggoods is a combination of relevant words relating to a web hosting company. Putting these words together make for a good domain name that meet the criteria mentioned above.
TIP: Using a dash (-) between words can sometimes create a very good domain name. I.E.(web-hosting-goods.com)

You should keep in mind that even if the domain name you want is already taken, it still may become available by purchasing it from the owner. Many domain names are owned by entrepreneurs that seek buyers. You can find the owner of a domain name by checking the www.whois.com database. Of course buying a domain name as opposed to registering one will cost you more but it may very well be worth the extra expense.

You Must Register Your Domain Name
There are many places , including:

* WebHostingGoods.com
* Yahoo!
* MyDomain
* Register.com
* GoDaddy
* NetworkSolutions

Integrated Success is an Official GoDaddy Registrar where you can buy discount domain names, hosting, and more

The above registrars are all ICANN accredited and provide the popular TLD’s (.com, .net, .org, .info) and all other TLD’s that are available today. I find that most registrars work pretty much the same by providing the tools to select an available domain name, however pricing can vary from one company to another. There is no disadvantage to choosing the lowest priced domain name fee.

Where to Buy Used Domain Names
If you want to buy domain names that are already registered, and may already have a page rank or would just rather not register a new domain, then you can search domain auctions and for sale websites for names that are available.

Many forums have people selling domain names including forums like Digital Point, Sitepoint, DN Forum and Namepros. You will find many cheap domain names there, just watch out for scams. Research the history of the domain names before buying, and never spend more than $500 on a domain name without paying through Escrow for safety reasons.
Alternatively, you can visit the domain name aftermarket from GoDaddy at tdnam.com. This site has tens of thousands of used domains for sale from $5 up to the six-figure mark. There are auctions and ‘buy it now’ listings there as well.

Other auction sites include Pool.com, Afternic, Sedo and SnapNames. You should become more familiar with domain terminology and market trends before buying domain names at auction, as prices can easily get out of hand.

Which Domain Extension Is Best?
In just about all cases, .com should be the domain name extension that you aim to acquire. There are a few exceptions to this, namely .org for non-profit organizations, .tv for sites focused on television, and international extensions for sites based in certain countries.

Regardless of which alternative extension you choose, aim to also own the .com version so that you protect your brand against copycats or competitors. The TLD (.com) always has, and will probably always be, the most popular and well-known domain name extension.

Whichever method you choose to buy domain names, make sure they match your website subject, are short and memorable, and will attract users to click through to your site.

Things that make a good domain name
When creating a name for your site keep these five simple criteria in mind:
1. Keep it short
2. Make it memorable
3. Relate it to the business name or core business
4. Make it easy to spell
5. If possible it should contain or be a main SEO keyword or key phrase.

Options When Registering Your Domain Name

Posted by admin on February 4th, 2009

Website Basics-How to Register Your Domain Name

The simple and short answer is that when you buy a domain name, you are registering it. The reason for this article is that there are some optional features available that are well worth considering when registering a domain name.

First and foremost, make sure that the email address and contact information you give when registering a domain name are accurate. This is especially true in the case of the email address. Communications regarding the status of domain names are sent to the email address on file, so give an email address that is readily accessible to you, and if you change email addresses at some point please be sure and update the email address attached to your domain name. It cannot be stressed enough how important this is. Often people lose access to their domain name or lose the domain name altogether because they can no longer access it, and the number one reason for this is their email address changed, they failed to update it with their domain registrar, and they no longer receive important communications regarding the status of the domain name.

Privacy One of the ‘deluxe’ options you will be offered at the time of domain name registration is the option for privacy. You’ll probably want to take advantage of this option. All domain names are listed in a large internet database called the WhoIs database. Without adding privacy to your registration, your contact info, including your name, address, phone, email, etc. all become public information, and readily accessible to spammers, telemarketers, and junk mailers. Private domain name registration is not mandatory and will not block all spam, but it is well worth the extra investment nonetheless.

Business Registration This next option concerns how your domain name is perceived in the WhoIs database and by the search engines. If your planned website involves commercial interests, this is a highly recommended option as well. Business registration places your domain name in WhoIs as a business, rather than a personal registration, and lists you by business category and subcategory. There is also an option to place an online business card and a link to a map to your store location, which will show up on the search engines. This also boosts your standing with the search engines; ie., business vs. personal.
domain registration info
Platinum Registration This option protects your domain name from domain name hijack. In the event that you give others access to your account, such as when hiring a web author to build your website, Platinum Registration locks the domain name down in such a way that no one can modify or steal it in any way. Highly recommended as well.

Multiple Years In the past few months Google and Yahoo, among others, have modified their search techniques to include checking the length of registration of a domain name. This is to weed out the pretenders from the players. Registering your domain name for a minimum of 5 years (or more) will boost your esteem in the eyes of the major search engines. For more information on this topic, read the article HERE.

Best Domain Name Registrars

Domain Name Registrars

Have you ever heard of the companies GoDaddy, eNom, Network Solutions? These companies are domain name registrars. Domain names are the way humans remember webpages, and websites. For example, google.com is a lot easier to remember than the IP address of the website 64.233.187.99.

Visitors of your website, want a domain name, rather than an IP address to remember, so they can view your webpages. Domain names used to be free, but now, just like everything else, they cost money. Usually around 10 to 20 dollars a year. The different registrars have different services that they offer, and pricing structures; but they all serve the same basic function.

If you are thinking about creating a website, visit one of the registrars, and buy your domain name, before someone else gets it! You can buy a domain name that has already been registered, but then you end up paying hundreds to thousands of dollars for the domain!!

Web Domain Name Registration

Posted by admin on February 4th, 2009

How To Register A Domain Name

You may be wondering if you should get a .com, .net, .info, or .whatever kind of domain. So many different kinds of domain extensions to choose from, and so little time. If you are registering a domain name for a for profit business, you should always register a .com domain.

From a brand perspective, there is no better domain than a .com domain. Most people associate business domains with the .com extension just like they associate school domains with the .edu extension.

It may not make any difference in the beginning, but the more successful you become the more it could hurt you. Let’s say you develop a new product idea and the .com domain name you want to call it is not available, so you register the .net domain instead. Sounds harmless enough. Now, let’s fast-forward a couple of years. You have spent time and money to develop your brand and people are searching for your product online with the .com extension simply because they expect you to own the

Another reason to shy away from other than .com domain names is that someone may already have copyright protection for the domain name you want to register. Look further if the .com domain you desire is not available. Even if you don’t find the exact domain you initially searched for, you may find one that is better than your original idea.

Whenever the domain you desire is not available through the registrar, you can try purchasing it from the registered owner. Unfortunately, many people register domain names to take advantage of others. The common name for such a person is domain squatter. I only recommend buying domain names from domain squatters if you have money to burn. The more they know you want it, the worse your chances of getting a good deal.

In other situations, someone may have good reason to own your desired domain name. It is unlikely that you’ll be able to buy the domain name from a thriving online business. It is possible that you run across a Web site with the perfect domain name for your business.
